QBSN Athlete of the Week: Kimberly Cunniff

This week’s QBSN athlete of the week honors belong to Kimberly Cunniff (Walpole, Mass) of Quinnipiac University’s field hockey team.

The junior defense played a huge role in the Bobcats latest win, a 2-1 victory over Colgate. Cunniff scored the game winning goal in the 60^th min off of an assist from senior captain Tina Watkins (Sweet Valley, Pa.). Her goal capped off an exciting comeback effort for the Bobcats. The win ended a three game losing streak for Quinnipiac, and improves their record for the year to 2-3.

Cunniff’s goal was her first of the season, after being tied for tied for the team lead in goals last season with four. She also had four shots, with two of them being on goal in the contest.

The Bobcats travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend to take on #19 Albany and the University of Michigan. Quinnipiac does not begin conference play until October 10, when they travel to Fairfield, Conn. to take on their NEC rivals Sacred Heart.
